, Adventures of Iceland’s Réttir – Iceland’s Annual Sheep Roundup

Icelandic sheep, horses and Iceland, what’s not to like? For centuries, every September, Icelandic farmers head-out scaling mountains and valleys on horseback and foot collecting their sheep, driving them back home to large corrals to then be sorted and returned to their farms before the long winter settles in. The annual sheep roundup, called réttir, is one of the oldest and most important traditions in Iceland where locals invite family and friends to help with the roundup and celebrate this annual tradition. Shepherd, horseback rider and photographer Jason Nicholson just returned from Iceland having participated in the réttir and will give a multimedia presentation on his adventures there traversing the Icelandic mountains on horseback, gathering sheep and sorting them with the local farmers.

Please plan on attending in what should be a very enjoyable evening with time to mingle, share and chat!
